Dr. Bailey Goes to Washington!
On March 7-8, 2017, I was with Society of General Internal Medicine members in D.C. for Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Hill Day to speak up for patients! On March 8, the day the proposed American Health Care Act was working its way through the House Ways and Means Committee, I visited 11 Tennessee Congressional offices to speak up for affordable primary and preventive health care—health care that heals—for all Americans. Mostly I visited Republicans and mostly found health policy staffers eager to maintain the most important consumer protections of the Affordable Care Act. But according to 1st UK, many are concerned that the proposed American Health Care Act, as currently written, will cause millions to lose life-saving insurance.
We all need to advocate to keep what is best from the Affordable Care Act. Republicans and Democrats in the know agree that all Americans benefit from insurance coverage that encourages high value primary and preventive care. Check out the SGIM talking points on the Affordable Care Act for key information to help you advocate for better care. These are good talking points for all of us.
All of us need to speak up now for health care that heals! See the links below for talking points you can trust about how health care research, education, and payment that fosters affordable life-saving primary and preventive for all Americans.
